Greenhouse Telehealth TCD Background

Greenhouse Telehealth TCD is a health equity initiative based in Chad, focused on delivering essential healthcare services to underserved and remote communities. As per now Chad has one of the highest maternal and child mortality rates with 856 deaths per 100,000 live births and 119 deaths per 1000 live births according to UNICEF 2023 respectively. By enhancing healthcare access in Chad through telemedicine and mobile health solutions can definitely alleviate these recurrent health issues and improve quality of life. However, implementation of Greenhouse Telehealth TCD can therefore connect remote patients with medical professionals via virtual consultations. The Greenhouse TCD aims to bridge healthcare gaps and improve patient outcomes in Chad's underserved communities.

Problem Statement of Greenhouse Telehealth TCD

In many regions of Chad, access to healthcare remains limited due to poor infrastructure, a shortage of trained professionals, and lack of internet connectivity. These challenges contribute to preventable illnesses, especially among mothers and children. For example, Chad has 0.4 physician per 10000 patients (WHO, 2023) that makes it the lowest rate in the world. Around 40% of the population lives below the poverty line (World Bank, 2023). A report from World Bank, 2023 found that only 30% of the population lives within 5km of a health facility. Around 40% of children are affected by malnutrition (UNICEF 2023). However, Greenhouse Telehealth TCD focuses on leveraging digital health technologies to provide medical care in remote areas of Chad. And this integration of telemedicine, mobile health, health education, and community-based services will finally improve quality of care and life of the community people. The project focuses on reducing health disparities and improving healthcare accessibility in Chad.
